Hot Cross Buns — A Different Kind of Breeder

At Hot Cross Buns, rabbits are not raised as inventory and placement is not approached as a race to reserve the next available baby.

Our rabbits are raised indoors as part of daily life, observed closely as individuals, and placed thoughtfully based on temperament, compatibility, and long-term wellbeing.

This approach is slower and more personal than many traditional breeder models, but we believe rabbits thrive best when they are genuinely understood before placement ever takes place.

Rabbits Known as Individuals

Whether bold and playful or quiet and observant, each rabbit at Hot Cross Buns is raised closely enough for personality to become part of daily life in our home.

We spend time observing how each rabbit responds to handling, activity, routine, and interaction. Some are naturally sociable and outgoing, while others are gentler, steadier, or more reserved.

Because of this, placement is not handled first-come, first-served.

Thoughtful matching helps create:

  • smoother transitions

  • stronger long-term bonds

  • lower-stress placement

  • better compatibility between rabbit and family

Our goal is not simply to place rabbits quickly. Our goal is to place them well.

The Kind of Homes We Hope For

We believe rabbits thrive when they are treated as true companions and naturally included in daily family life.

Our rabbits are placed in indoor homes prepared to provide:

  • appropriate space and exercise

  • proper diet and unlimited hay

  • rabbit-savvy veterinary care

  • daily interaction and companionship

  • long-term commitment

Spaying/neutering are required for long-term health and wellbeing.

Before You Apply

Most families who move forward with placement have already:

  • begun preparing an indoor housing setup

  • identified a rabbit-savvy exotic veterinarian

  • researched rabbit diet and care

  • considered how a rabbit will realistically fit into daily life and long-term plans

If this approach resonates with you, we encourage you to continue here before submitting a Placement Form.
