The Purchaser agrees to provide humane, attentive care for this rabbit at all times. This includes, but is not limited to:
Safe, indoor housing in a private residence
Daily access to fresh water and unlimited hay
A balanced diet appropriate for rabbits
Regular exercise and enrichment in a rabbit-proofed environment
Veterinary care provided by a rabbit-experienced veterinarian
This rabbit is adopted as an indoor companion. The rabbit will not be housed outdoors overnight under any circumstances. Outdoor time, if provided, must be fully supervised and conducted in a secure, predator-safe area. The Purchaser understands that heat, predators, and parasites pose serious risks to rabbits and agrees to monitor conditions accordingly. Children must be supervised at all times when interacting with this rabbit.
2. Humane Treatment
The Purchaser agrees that this rabbit will never be abused, neglected, or intentionally harmed, nor allowed to be harmed by another person or animal.
3. Housing & Residency
The Purchaser affirms that this rabbit will be kept only in a private residence and that permission has been obtained from the property owner or rental agency if applicable.
4. Health Disclosure & Liability
The Breeder has disclosed any known health concerns of this rabbit to the best of her knowledge at the time of placement. The Purchaser understands that rabbits, like all living beings, may develop health conditions in the future. Once the rabbit is placed, the Breeder is not responsible for illness, injury, damage, or loss caused by or to the rabbit.
5. Breach of Care & Right of Reclamation
In the event of a material breach of this Agreement — including but not limited to neglect, lack of veterinary care, failure to meet housing standards, or failure to comply with the Spay/Neuter Agreement — the Breeder reserves the right to reclaim the rabbit. The Purchaser agrees to cooperate with reasonable requests for information regarding the rabbit’s welfare.
6. Return-to-Breeder Policy
If at any time the Purchaser is unable or unwilling to keep this rabbit, the Purchaser agrees to notify the Breeder promptly and to arrange return of the rabbit to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops.
This rabbit may never be:
abandoned
surrendered to a shelter or rescue
sold, rehomed, or transferred to another individual
used for breeding, experimentation, or exchange
If the rabbit passes away, the Purchaser agrees to notify the Breeder.
Spay / Neuter Agreement
Permanent ownership of this rabbit is contingent upon compliance with the following Spay/Neuter requirements.
7. Spay / Neuter Requirement
The Purchaser agrees that this rabbit will be spayed or neutered as follows:
Rabbits placed under six (6) months of age must be spayed/neutered by seven (7) months of age.
Rabbits placed six (6) months of age or older must be spayed/neutered within a timeframe agreed upon with the Breeder.
Proof of spay/neuter (veterinary invoice or record including clinic information and veterinarian signature) must be provided to the Breeder within fourteen (14) days following surgery.
8. Veterinary Delay Exception
If a licensed veterinarian determines that the rabbit is not yet medically suitable for surgery, the Purchaser must provide written documentation from the veterinarian. The Purchaser agrees to schedule the procedure at the earliest medically appropriate time and to keep the Breeder informed in writing.
9. Breeding Prohibition
This rabbit may not be bred under any circumstances. Any breeding — whether intentional or due to failure to prevent access to intact rabbits — constitutes a breach of this Agreement. In such an event, the rabbit must be returned to the Breeder without refund, and any offspring produced will become the property of Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops.
10. Failure to Comply
Failure to provide proof of spay/neuter by the agreed deadline, without written veterinary exception, constitutes a breach of contract.
In the event of breach:
The Purchaser agrees to return the rabbit to the Breeder in good health
No refund will be issued
The Purchaser is responsible for transportation costs associated with the return
