A quiet, intelligent little doe who is an Observant Bun at heart, Ivy tends to be shy. She has a touch of social Bun and wants to know where everyone is so she can "spy" on them. When we're working in the Bunny Room, we can always feel her eyes upon us, as she makes certain we're living up to her standards of perfection. A full-on social butterfly bun will climb all over you and get in your face to see what she wants to see, but this little girl most likely won't go that far.

Ivy is a 2-3 on the energy scale. It's difficult to tell because, if she can see what's going on, she's pretty relaxed, but if she can't, she will continually move around until she gets a good vantage point.

Ivy is a bigger girl and will probably weigh 4-5 pounds as a healthy weight.

Like her sister Holly, she has the reddish cast to her eyes that is common in chocolate rabbits. It's usually only noticeable at certain angles in the light and sometimes in photographs. She has absolutely beautiful eyes, but she sometimes hides them behind her ears if she's feeling "exposed."

Ivy's preferred family will be gently persistent in working with her, to help her overcome her tendency to hiding when attention is given. Because she's nosy, it would be great if she could free-roam with supervision, so she can "spy" on her family and hop along after them at her own pace. She will sit on laps and cuddle for a bit, but her more independent self likes to sprawl out close by, rather than on, her people. Ivy could enjoy watching children play and interact, but parental supervision would definitely be needed when very young children or more active children interact with her directly. She would do well with cats and well-behaved dogs, who could help her become braver and bolder.

Ivy's left eye has a tendency to to drain and look a bit "wet". Although checked by a vet, no cause/reason for this has been given. He didn't seem to be overly concerned, so we just try to wipe the area around her eye with a warm, wet cloth once or twice a day, to keep her looking her best.

All of the Buns born at HCB go to their new homes with a bag full of goodies including: a packet of bunny care information, a small bag of transition food and hay, a snack baggie of old-fashioned raw oats for treats, a toy, and a fleece snuggle mat.
