I was able to post new pictures of all the baby bunnies on the Hot Cross Babies page this afternoon. For whatever reason, Apple Jane's kit has a greenish tint in some of the pictures. He's a very lovely silvery color in real life.
We have found some great homes for Plum Bun's little does and are getting ready for them to go to their new homes next week. Today was spent tattooing ears, so everyone goes to the right homes. It has been mind-bogglingly crazy to keep track of six solid black bunnies at the same time and not get them mixed up. The two blues are a little easier since one is much larger than the other, but still. Sharpies work ok, but they wear off surprisingly quickly. Plum Bun, if we ever breed you again, please have a little more variety in your litter!
Tomorrow will be devoted to clipping all those tiny, razor-sharp baby toenails. That's 144 nails! I think there's going to be a piece of key lime cheesecake waiting for me after that job is completed. ;)
Plum Bun has been enjoying baby-free days as we put her six babies into a separate playpen every morning so she can have a little peace, away from her energetic babies who love to bounce all over her. If ever there was a mama who needs a break, it's Plum Bun!
Blueberry Muffin has been a very devoted mother to her babies. She keeps those little bellies full of milk and hops into her nestbox frequently to make sure all is well with her little ones. It has been such a joy to watch her blossom into such a wonderful mother.
Amy is the Big Bunny at the Hot Cross Buns Holland Lop Rabbitry. She manages the furry bunnies as well as her own brood of five kits, with the help of her incredibly patient husband of nineteen years. Hot Cross Hoppenings will be a journal of our adventures in Holland Lop life.
