1.   In assuming responsibility for the above rabbit, I agree to never physically abuse her/him, nor will I allow any other person or animal to do so. I will always supervise any children who are in the presence of this rabbit.

2.    I agree to give this rabbit play and exercise time in a safe environment. I agree to rabbit-proof my home. I am adopting this rabbit as an indoor companion, and at no time will s/he be left outdoors overnight, even in an outdoor rabbit hutch.  I understand that outdoor play may yield dangers from parasites and predators but if I elect to take my rabbit outdoors for play activity, I will supervise carefully and provide protection from predators in a secure area. I will monitor the outdoor temperature closely, understanding that heat can be fatal to a rabbit.

3.    I agree to provide this rabbit with a balanced diet including fresh food, water, and hay daily. I agree to provide medical care with an experienced rabbit veterinarian, to maintain the continued good health of this rabbit.

4.    I will keep this rabbit in a private residence only. I have permission from the rental agency or property owner to have this rabbit in my home.

5.    Once this rabbit is placed, Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops (also referred to as “The Breeder”) is not liable nor responsible for any damage or injury caused by the adopted rabbit. I understand that the Breeder, to the best of her knowledge, has disclosed any and all health problems this rabbit has had. I understand that health problems may arise in the future for which the Breeder will not be held responsible.

6.   I agree that the Breeder is authorized to remove this rabbit if s/he is not receiving adequate home care, is being endangered by lack of veterinary care, if the terms of the Spay/Neuter Agreement are not fulfilled,  or if there has been a violation of the purchase contract or any local anti-cruelty laws.

7.    I understand that I will be contacted for further verification of this rabbit's welfare and will cooperate by providing whatever information is requested, which could include a visit into my home by the Breeder.  The Breeder reserves the right to investigate the living conditions of this rabbit and may remove the rabbit being kept in violation of the requirements in this contract.

8.   I will contact the Breeder immediately if this rabbit becomes lost. If I can no longer keep this rabbit, I must contact the Breeder to arrange for re-placement. I will never abandon this rabbit or give him or her to a shelter or another person. I will insure that this rabbit is never sold, given up for experimentation, or exchanged in any form. If I am unable to uphold the provisions of this contract, for any reason, I will surrender this rabbit to the Breeder within 48 hours of a notifying phone call. If the rabbit passes away, I will notify the Breeder.

Permanent ownership of this Rabbit is contingent upon your compliance with this Agreement.  Proof of Spay or Neuter must be received from The Purchaser of the rabbit referenced below within fourteen (14) days after the spay/neuter surgery.  Rabbits can be spayed/neutered at 6 months of age.  Juvenile rabbits under 6 months of age at time of placement, will be spayed/neutered by 7 months of age.  In the event that the rabbit’s health does not allow this agreement to be honored, Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry (also referred to as “The Breeder”) must be provided with a statement from the Purchaser’s veterinarian that this rabbit is not yet in physical or emotional condition for surgery.  Based upon the veterinarian’s evaluation of this rabbit, the Purchaser will contact the veterinarian and establish the earliest date that the procedure can be performed.  The Purchaser will notify the Breeder of this amendment in writing at which time all other conditions of this agreement will APPLY AND BE ENFORCED.

By my signature below, I agree to have this rabbit spayed/neutered by no later than seven months of age.  I understand that this Spay/Neuter Agreement is an agreement that this rabbit will not produce a litter of rabbits either as purposefully bred or by accidental breeding.  Accidental breeding is considered neglect and the rabbit will be returned to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry and all offspring born from any breeding, accidental or otherwise, will become the property of Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry.

FAILURE to provide to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry the proof of spay/neuter of this rabbit by 7 months of age will nullify this agreement and the Purchaser will deliver or pay to deliver the rabbit and return it in good health to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry and surrender the rabbit to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry without financial restitution or compensation of any kind.

It is the responsibility of the PURCHASER, not the veterinarian, to ensure that Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry has received Verification that the surgery has been performed.  Failure to comply with this agreement by the date below, unless otherwise agreed to in writing, will be considered a breach of contract, and the PURCHASER will pay to transport or transport this rabbit back to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry in Oberlin, OH, and will not be entitled to a refund.  If the rabbit is not returned in a timely manner (within TEN (10) calendar days) the rabbit will be picked up by the BREEDER.  The PURCHASER will pay an additional fee of $250 for the cost of the BREEDER to take possession of the rabbit.

Please send to the BREEDER the veterinarian’s proof of spay/neuter or invoice bill with the veterinarian’s state license number and his/her signature for verification.

I also agree that, should the rabbit not be spayed/neutered, I will return said rabbit to Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry with no refund and the Penalty fee of $500 will be due at the time the rabbit is returned.  If I do not return the rabbit myself and the Breeder takes possession of the rabbit anywhere other than the location of Hot Cross Buns Holland Lops Rabbitry in Oberlin, OH, I am responsible for paying a $250 pick-up fee, in addition to the $500 Penalty Fee, for a total fee of $750.
